Meghan and Matt’s story is way too cute not to share! They met online, but not the typical way you may assume. Matt was stationed overseas, but being thousands of miles apart, they were enrolled in the same online course. As they participated in discussions without ever having seen each other, they grew fond of one another’s intellect and ideas. Eventually Matt traveled across seas just to meet Meghan for the very first time!

Fast forward to the day of Meghan and Matt’s wedding. They chose not to have a First Look until they met at the alter. Matt was smiling ear to ear with excitement. As Meghan walked down the aisle it wasn’t just a smile, but pure JOY. Tears of joy filled his eyes! What a beautiful moment — I’ll never forget!

We had never been to University of Virginia before but it was gorgeous! The surrounding scenery with all of the classical architecture perfectly matched Meghan and Matt’s timeless style. They set out romantic classic books for the table centerpieces, along with my favorite flower of all time — peonies!!

To start the party off, Meghan and Matt had an incredible first dance they had rehearsed, and all of the guests followed along with them after their great performance!

I’ll never forget the love they had for one another and how calm each of them was the entire day. It was a grand celebration but felt so intimate at the same time. We were honored to capture it all!

Congrats to the happy couple!

This film is something entirely different to me because it’s my baby SISTER’S wedding! Being the Maid of Honor, I didn’t know how much I would be able to capture since it was so busy on the wedding day, but keeping my camera close, I took any shot I could when time allowed it. I even snuck a camera in my bouquet as I walked down the aisle so I could get a shot of the processional!! Being in the wedding party as opposed to being the designated videographer took me out of my normal zone on a wedding day. The change of perspective really made for a unique film that I’ve been so excited to share.

Just to share a bit about Ellie and Josh’s love story and how it all started…Ellie came to live with me her freshmen year of college in Richmond, VA. We lived in this beautiful building called “The Gramercy” of which Ellie and Josh met for the first time. We lived on the 2nd floor, and Josh lived on the 1st. They had “love at first sight” as Josh saw Ellie coming down the stairs that semester in college. I always thought they were just friends because they acted like they had been best friends their entire lives, but there was more to their relationship that grew deeper over the years.

Ellie is the youngest of all 5 sisters in our family (all girls, yes!) and the last to get married! My parents own a wedding venue – The Glasgow Farm – so they basically had the wedding thing down to a T! Unlike most weddings that happen on the farm, Ellie and Josh had different plans for the backdrop of their special day.

The ceremony took place hidden in the forest where you had to walk down winding paths through a beautiful yellow flower meadow to get to. There were light rays streaming through the trees as Ellie walked down the field escorted under a white tent carried by family members also carrying lanterns. It was so magical!!!

The reception took place in the field, right where Ellie and I used to explore as children and pick yellow flowers and feel like we were lost in another magical world far away from home… It was surreal having such a celebration in middle of where we made so many cherished memories!

The tables were setup in long rows with magnolia garlands streaming across each. String lights that were hung all around the field and over our heads made me feel like I truly was in another world! There were flower arrangements hung on trees, lavender lemon homemade soy candle favors lit at each table, and lanterns my dad put together by hand months leading up to the wedding!

They only invited their closest friends and family members, so I feel like it was a big dinner party where everyone knew everyone! We danced the night away under the stars and big bright moon, and felt so full of joy just seeing Ellie and Josh madly in love. My heart was so full, I will never forget the feeling.

Kelsey and Nick met through mutual friends in Tulsa, OK while going out with friends. He was in his first year of law school, and Kelsey was in a Teach for America program. At first he didn’t seem interested and then out of nowhere, he asked Kelsey on a date! Two years later, out of surprise once again, Nick proposed to Kelsey!

The first time I spoke with Kelsey on the phone about wedding videography, I couldn’t get over how sweet this girl was! It’s such a joy to make work with two people so in love with each other and so excited to have their day filmed! We later had a Skype session with both Kelsey and Nick before the big day, and my goodness are they the most adorable couple! I knew their big day would be something special 😃

The day of the wedding, Kelsey and Nick were both nervous and incredibly excited to see each other. We were able to get them to speak (separately) to the camera right before the first look, to say what they would like to say to each other in that moment. It was SO sweet! And then the first look happened — !!!! Nick was over the moon for Kelsey. They both cried, laughed and had a sweet moment together. In times like those, I love giving the couple a second to actually be together as opposed to flooding them with the camera. It’s such an exciting moment that they deserve together!

Centenary United Methodist church was such an inspiring piece of history. The vaulted ceilings and detailed architecture was breathtaking. I love when couples get married in century aged churches because there’s just SO much history there.

Following the ceremony was their reception at The John Marshall Ballrooms where they celebrated with family and friends. I felt like I was in the roaring 20’s with all of the glamorous features of that building left and right! We were able to find the John Marshall Hotel sign at sunset to get a quick timelapse of the clouds. I went to college in Richmond, VA (VCU, woo!) and always loved that sign. I knew I wanted to incorporate that into the video because it’s a great feature of the hotel that they will always remember.

Back inside they were dancing the night away with family and friends. Their marriage was such a happy occasion, the joy was contagious to all who came! We were incredibly honored to have been there to capture it all.

Congrats to the happy couple!!!

Richmond Wedding VideographyRichmond, VA

We don’t always book weddings within weeks of the wedding date itself, but for this special couple, there was no way to turn them down! Matthew called me to explain his situation and said that the videography package was entirely a surprise for his soon to be bride, and that he wanted it to be just perfect for her. She had mentioned possibly wanting a videographer, and he thought it would be the perfect gift and surprise for her. How SWEET!!! My heart melted 🙂 We were so excited to be a part of their day and contributing to a great gift for Jenna. They had a beautiful ceremony at Saint Peter Catholic Church in downtown Richmond where they officially became husband and wife! It was a gorgeous sunny fall day, so we walked over to the capital grounds for some photo/video shots right after the ceremony. Following the ceremony, their reception was held at Hermitage Country Club where they celebrated with their family and friends – of all ages! It was a joyous celebration and we couldn’t have been happier being a part of it.

Enjoy!
